Our Innovation & Life Enrichment Programs

Every Compass program reflects our True North values—goodness, loyalty, faith, and fun. We believe elderhood is a time to be celebrated—the crescendo of a lifetime. Our Life Enrichment programs are thoughtfully designed to enhance every dimension of wellness—social, creative, spiritual, purposeful, and overall well-being—bringing joy, meaning, and fulfillment to each day.

Through meaningful connections, creative expression, and new adventures, we empower residents to embrace their passions, discover new ones, and truly thrive in a supportive, person-centered community. These programs connect people across generations and communities, fostering opportunities to learn, engage, and grow together while helping residents celebrate and preserve their unique stories and legacies for generations to come.

Resources

Caring for a family member or close friend is one of the most important—and complicated—roles you’ll play. It can happen suddenly, with an accident or illness, or it may start with driving your loved one to get groceries or going to the doctor. Later, you may find yourself taking more time off from work, preparing meals or handling their finances.

Whether you’re just beginning to anticipate a need or taking care of a family member full-time, this guide serves as a practical tool to make the process easier for both you and your loved one. It includes advice, resources and checklists to help you get organized and find support on your caregiving journey. Remember: Just take it one step at a time.

Founders Dr. Bill Thomas (world renowned geriatrician) and Kavan Peterson are on a mission to change the way we think about aging. Through their non-fiction theater tour, podcast, and blog they are asking citizens around the country What if everything you knew about aging was wrong? Learn more about how they are exploring the hidden dimensions of our humanity and inspiring personal growth and social change.

Pioneer Network is a national movement to support providers in transitioning away from an institutional medical model of elder care to one that is life-affirming, satisfying, humane, and meaningful. Their goal is to foster care that is directed by the person receiving it.

The biggest benefit of technological tools is providing seniors with the opportunity to be as independent as possible while giving caregivers or loved ones some peace of mind. The use of a GPS Tracker can help quickly locate a loved one who may wander or become lost.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream.

Resident Growth & Wellness Plans™

At Compass Senior Living, we put the person first. Our Growth and Wellness Plans™ shift the focus from traditional, institution-style care to a model centered on each resident’s strengths, preferences, dreams, and goals. Well-being is the ultimate measure of a fulfilling life, and our approach is designed to support it every day.

Rather than defining residents by diagnoses or limitations, we partner with each individual to identify opportunities for growth, connection, and meaningful engagement. By highlighting personal strengths and celebrating individuality, our plans guide the care and support residents need—within a culture of compassion, respect, and empowerment.

At Compass Senior Living, we have the privilege of hearing the wisdom, humor, and small but meaningful stories from elders who have lived nearly a century. Each story—whether a cherished memory, a life lesson, or a moment of joy—offers a unique window into a life well-lived.

Through our simple process of capturing these stories, we create an enriching experience for both the storyteller and the listener. Residents share their adventures, challenges, and insights, forming deeper connections and preserving their legacy for generations to come—complete with voices, photos, and personal reflections.

The Tiny Stories™ Project has already preserved hundreds of stories told from our residents’ perspectives.

Circle of Friends™ is built on the fundamental human needs for connection, love, belonging, and purpose. In these gatherings, residents and care team members come together with a shared intention, guided by a facilitator.

Activities may include conversation, creative expression, cognitive exercises, music, goal setting, or community engagement—anything that fosters connection and engagement. At our core, we are social beings, and meaningful conversation is one of the most powerful ways to connect. Circle of Friends™ helps residents rediscover these connections, nurture relationships, and support overall well-being, especially as friends and loved ones may no longer be nearby.

The Compass Café offers an enhanced dining experience that complements our daily menu. Meals are thoughtfully designed to meet residents’ nutritional needs while providing variety and honoring personal preferences.

Menus are refreshed every 4–6 months to feature seasonal ingredients and community favorites, and special options are included for residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The Compass Café blends tradition with innovation—bringing comfort, choice, and flavor to every meal.

Brain Boost Nutrition™ is one of our most popular programs, designed to support brain health through delicious, nutrient-rich foods. Research shows that diets rich in fruits and vegetables—packed with antioxidants—may help protect brain cells and support cognitive wellness.

At Compass, we believe everyone can benefit from these brain-friendly meals. By enjoying a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and wholesome ingredients, residents receive the nutrients that help promote overall brain health and wellness.
